Eric Hurlburt

Date Appointed: August 2006
As Chief, Domestic Marketing
& Economic Development, Eric is responsible for the department's
activities to encourage and assist development and growth of the state's
agriculture and food processing industries and the marketing of their
products within Washington. He oversees the Small Farm Direct Marketing
program that helps small and family-owned farms to be more successful
and to find new and alternative markets for their products. He also
manages the "From the Heart of Washington" program to raise awareness of
agriculture's important role in Washington's and to encourage consumers
to purchase locally grown foods. In addition, he works on issues
affecting the industry including transportation and infrastructure, food
policy and access, business recruitment and retention, bioenergy, etc.
On behalf of the department, he sits on the boards of the Access to
Healthy Foods Coalition, Washington Economic Development Finance
Authority, Washington Wine Commission and various advisory groups.
